Window view "Heimaklettur"

A good friend of mine asked me if I could paint our Heimaklett looking through her window where she was staying last summer.  I said I would give it a try but knew it would be a challenging job to make it look like it was seen through glass, but I had to have a go.

This is my idea drawn up with a charcoal.

The first ground laid.
The progress.  I can see I already had the colors too strong so have to gray them up a bit ....

Birds in feeding frenzy

Last autumn there was a lot of fish swimming into the harbor in Vestmannaeyjar.  It did not take long for our seabirds to catch on and they came in hundreds from the sky diving in feeding frenzy.
I painted this with my palette knife on a 24x30cm stretched canvas.

Day 5. En Plein Air - Blátindur WIP

Blátindur is going to be moved to Skansinn for protection and for public to view how those old boats looked like in the old days.

This is an unfinished painting as I had to stop, I will get to it later.

Imago Mundi project

Mother Earth
This painting is my contribution towards the Imago Mundi project which
will be shown in Italy next year.  The man behind the idea is Mr. Luciano Benetton,
http://www.imagomundiart.com/welcome/
This is a an international collection of small art.  They intend to collect 144 small works from each country, sounds like a huge and exiting exhibition!
I decided to make a figurative work which would seem or feel both warm and protective.

Vestmannaeyjar

A glorious day!
These are called "Small Islands" They do have a name each of them, like the three bigger ones are called from left Hrauney, Hæna and Hani.  If I do have this in the wrong order then please correct me.
There are many beautiful little island around Vestmannaeyjar and these are only few of them.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, I was out looking for a painting spot but instead I just stood there and felt like I was not on this earth, the sun, the calmness and the beauty was overwhelming.
I just wanted to share these two photos with you my friends in hope you might feel peace and happiness .
