Walking in the Rain

I thought I might try my acrylics as it has been quite a time since I used them last.  What I will try to get out of the painting is a soft smudgy colors or rather more like abstract or expressionism.  This is only feeling my way and covering the board.  More later.....

I decided to switch over to oil as it is more comfortable to handle.  More later.....

Women and Christ

Here is my final work
oil on stretched canvas 8öx60cm
My progress
Original sketch
I had the pleasure to be asked to join other artists to paint "Konur og Kristur"
which is going to be shown in the city Reykjavík.
We had the Bible to work from.
I choice the saga of the woman who suffered from severe bleeding for twelve years "she came up to Jesus in a crowd of people and touched the edge of his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once"
You can find this in LUKE 8: 43-45
I really enjoyed creating this painting, I went along I changed and added as my spirit told me.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Blítt og Létt

I did this one for Myndlistafélag Vestmannaeyja exhibition at the end of the month.
The theme was from a line of an old song by Ása í Bæ "Blítt og Létt", which could be translated to "Soft and Light"
Painted with watercolor on 300g Not.

Psalm 410 - Þorsteinn Valdimarsson. From 115. century in Zhurich 1552

Vers 1
Oh, the wonder of life...
I was very touched when I read this psalm and decided to express myself by painting my version of all the four psalms.  I hope you like it.
I used oil, brush and palette knife.

Vers 2
I never saw it so clear...

Vers 3
Oh,  my old trodden road...

Vers 4
I answer, my Lord,  I do thank you!
I decided not to write all the psalms at this time but can do if people are interested.

Imago Mundi project

Mother Earth
This painting is my contribution towards the Imago Mundi project which
will be shown in Italy next year.  The man behind the idea is Mr. Luciano Benetton,
http://www.imagomundiart.com/welcome/
This is a an international collection of small art.  They intend to collect 144 small works from each country, sounds like a huge and exiting exhibition!
I decided to make a figurative work which would seem or feel both warm and protective.

The Day of the Seamen

The Seamen Day
Last Sunday was the day of the year where Icelanders honor all seamen.
On tis day also was decided to have an auction and collect money for a good purpose.  Some of the island artists were asked to contribute to the event which we did gladly.  Quite many paintings sold for a good price and mine there included.
The seamen were very pleased with the outcome.

Here is the painting that I painted, it is of two young men learning the robes from the old guy.

Today we honor all Seamen.

Today we honor all seamen.

We go to church to honor them and their families and remember the lost ones by placing a flower wreath at the statue of a seaman.
It was a wonderful day.
Sadly I forgot my camera so am showing one of my painting here instead.  The idea of this painting came from my childhood memory like so many of my paintings.

Sharing Secrets

Winter in Iceland

Here is one of my newest small oil painting on stretched canvas size 20x20x3.5cm.
I had this image in my head from childhood days when all the kids were out playing and enjoying the snow.
I tried to make it look like it was snowing.  I hope I succeeded?

The Guitarist!

It is all in the feelings!
This guy was really giving himself all to the music.
I made this little water color for my friend George in USA as a Christmas present.
I think he might like it as he is a very good guitarist himself.
I will be looking forward hearing from him.
Merry Christmas my friend!

The neighbor watch

These are one of my small watercolor and pen art work.
It shows a couple standing in the rain and talking while on watch.
I really should have been doing some Daily Paint Works but have been too busy organizing for our Market at our new Harbor Site.
This month has been full on with my exhibition on the mainland and then our Market here at home.  Life is fun!!
