  1. Hello Steinunn,
Some time ago I discovered your art Blog via Jo Mackenzie's art Blog. I enjoyed seeing your work and when I realized you live in Iceland, I was very pleased because I have friends, the Benediktssons who have family there. Also, I studied in Lund, Sweden for a year and enjoy all things Scandinavian! Today I noticed your comment about "no wimpy watercolors" so I thought I would stop by and say "Hello". Could you kindly tell the stories of these 3 paintings? They are all wonderful. I especially like your palette! - Dana

  2. Hello Dana,
Lovely to hear from you and that you discovered my blog through Jo´s blog. I really enjoy following Jo´s journey, very interesting artist.
Where do the Benediktssons live in Iceland? Yes, Scandinavian countries are very interesting, I lived for a year in Oslo when I was a young woman.
I am glad you noticed and decided to say "Hello" Dana and doubly glad that you noticed my paintings and like them.
The top one is a scene viewed from west of my island, there are a lot of rocky and small islands.
I wanted to show the "Golden" daybreak we so often get here.
The second from top is from the olden time when the seamen were getting ready to go fishing and is a childhood memory.
The last one is showing two young one learning the robes about sea live .
The are all done in warm colors as you noticed Dana.
My colors depend on what I would like express to the viewer, like in this instance it was the feeling of warmth and togetherness of people.
I hope I did not tire you with trying to express myself, I am better at it on paper or canvas than in words really.
Look forward hearing from you again and perhaps you would like to join my site, that way you can follow my other blogs as well.
    Best regards.....Steinunn

  3. Aha, I remembered where I commented on your work, Steinunn! I just had to think about these 3 paintings which are so interesting. I love paintings that tell a story - about a place, or about people going about their daily lives. I have found the place to get email updates of your posts and look forward to them very much! - Dana
