The Guitarist!

It is all in the feelings!
This guy was really giving himself all to the music.
I made this little water color for my friend George in USA as a Christmas present.
I think he might like it as he is a very good guitarist himself.
I will be looking forward hearing from him.
Merry Christmas my friend!

Beautiful Memories

Friends
I made this little watercolor for my girlfriend in Australia as a Christmas gift.
It is so many years ago that us and my late son used to go out to the bush and enjoy the peace and  quietness that goes with God´s nature.

What glorious memories!

Faxastig 14

A Commission

A friend asked me to paint her house using watercolor but did not want the fence showing.  This gave me a bit of a problem as the house sits lower that the road, well I did my best and all seem to be happy with my result.  The name of the house is Hvíld.
A girlfriend of mine used to live there when we were small and I remember it well when I was playing there with her.

The Loved Cat

This was a commission I did for a friend of mine after she had seen one of my cat paintings made by colored ink which was at my last exhibition.  I used watercolors for this one and tried to make it look like her late cat that she still misses.  She was really happy with it when I brought it to her today.
I hope you do too.

Sleepy Cat

Dreaming Away

Here is a new approach to my water media.

I have just joint another artist website called http://www.wetcanvas.com
where artists get all sorts of challenges, very exiting!
From all the pictures that we could choose from was one photo of a sleeping cat which I decided to have a go at.  I thought I would make a different approach by using my old set of W&N "Liquid Acrylic Ink" and "Illu Color"
I wanted to go completely from the usual oil and watercolor approach.
My method in few words were as follows:
I sprayed water on a 140lb not watercolor paper, then I poured some yellows, orange and carefully added a little of the sepia for shadows .  While this was drying I started using a pen and a brush to do some glazing and create some texture.
It has been a long time since I have played with these mediums and I was really enjoying myself.
I hope you enjoy my friends.

The Pier Talk

On the Dock

I got tired of painting landscape so went over to paint an illusion from my head like I do so often.
Workers or Seamen often come to my head and also caring images which I will show you in my next blog.
These guys are of course talking about the latest issue, which is??  Oh well, I will leave that open for now.
This is oil on stretched canvas size 40x30cm
Most of my work is for sale so if there is an interest please don't hesitate to contact me.

A Glorious Morning

South island in morning glory.

It has been a while since I have given myself time to post anything on my blog, mainly because I have been painting for an exhibition,  it was supposed to have been a joint exhibition but now I learned that the other artist wont be able to make it so that makes me come to a stand still at the moment while I rethink my situation.
Anyway, I thought I might show you some of my work and ideas for fun.

This above painting was done in oil with a palette knife over the ground work.

The concept was supposed to be sunrise or sunset, the medium oil and all work measured 30x40 or 40x30cm.
I have used golden colors a lot through my work but also completely opposite hues like cool grayish colors.

I will post more tomorrow and hope you will enjoy and maybe make some comment perhaps.

Vestmannaeyjar

A glorious day!
These are called "Small Islands" They do have a name each of them, like the three bigger ones are called from left Hrauney, Hæna and Hani.  If I do have this in the wrong order then please correct me.
There are many beautiful little island around Vestmannaeyjar and these are only few of them.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, I was out looking for a painting spot but instead I just stood there and felt like I was not on this earth, the sun, the calmness and the beauty was overwhelming.
I just wanted to share these two photos with you my friends in hope you might feel peace and happiness .

The neighbor watch

These are one of my small watercolor and pen art work.
It shows a couple standing in the rain and talking while on watch.
I really should have been doing some Daily Paint Works but have been too busy organizing for our Market at our new Harbor Site.
This month has been full on with my exhibition on the mainland and then our Market here at home.  Life is fun!!

Cards and small Art

These are all cards of various sizes and prices and come with envelopes.  The sizes vary from 10x13 to 17.5x13.5, some are in carton but most are card sizes.
I am taking them to the market on Friday in hope I will be able to do some selling.
This is in celebration of our yearly Seaman's day, yes, the seaman´s holiday.
All the town is going to be shiny clean, especially our harbor site were the young people are busy painting the streets and walk paths with fish stencils to lead the folks to our market and other things that are happening this weekend.  It is all so exiting!!
